Microsoft Windows updates are very important for your computer. Windows updates
contain driver updates, security updates, and other updates to help keep your
computer running smoothly and free of viruses and other errors. Every once in a
while Windows will release a service pack. A service pack is a large group of many
Windows updates contained in one download. These service packs are very
important and you should always make sure that you are running the most current
service pack for your version of Windows.
To find out which version of Windows you are using, and which service pack your
version of Windows has, you will need to look in your system properties. To find
your system properties you will need to go into the control panel, and then click on
the system link. Here you will see what version of Windows you are using, such as
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.
For Windows XP, the most current service pack is service pack three. For Windows
Vista, the most current service pack service pack two. For Windows 7, the most
current service pack this service pack one. At the time of writing this post, Windows
8 has not released yet, so there are no service packs out for Windows eight.
If you want to download the newest service pack for your computer you will want to
check Windows updates. If you do not see the service pack available to download,
yet your computer does not have the most current service pack, you may need to do
other updates before the service pack is available. Windows will hide a service pack
if other updates are needed to make that service pack work.
